How To Trim & Maintain Your Beard At Home
To grow your beard long and thick, you need to know how to trim and maintain it. Lads Grooming Expert, Jules Togini shows you how to trim & maintain your facial hair so you can make your visual investment the best it can be:

TRIMMING TIPS
USING THE TRIMMING BLADE
1. Switch the trimmer on by sliding the On/Off switch upwards so that the “I” marking is visible.
2. Place the trimmer at a slight right angle to the skin and trim in the direction of hair growth. It is suggested to trim the hair in the direction of hair growth, as trimming against the direction of growth could cause a rash or irritation.
3. Pull the skin firmly with one hand during the trimming process to ensure the closest trim possible.
4. Move the trimmer slowly and carefully, so as not to cut any hair you do not intend to trim.
5. Trim, shape and define your facial hair as needed.
NOTE: Be careful not to apply excess pressure to the blade, as this may damage the blade and can result in injury to the skin during trimming.

TRIMMING & SHAVING TIPS
USING THE ROTARY FOIL SHAVER PREPARING THE SKIN
Before using the rotary foil shaver, make sure that the skin is clean and free from grease.
Exfoliating the skin once or twice a week before shaving helps to maintain healthy and fresh skin, but it also helps to:
-- Prevent hairs from growing under the skin, resulting in in-grown hairs
-- Remove dead skin cells and refine the texture of your skin, resulting in a closer shave
-- Prepare your skin to help it absorb skin care products.
We recommend exfoliating ideally the day before, as well as just before shaving.
This will help straighten the hair and make it easier to shave. Avoid exfoliating just after shaving.
Having a warm shower before use will also help to soften the hair.
1. Remove the protective cover.
2. Switch the shaver on by pressing down on the safety lock button and then sliding the On/Off switch upwards so that the “I” marking is visible.
3. It is strongly recommended to start shaving from the neck area, which is more sensitive 4. Move the shaver very smoothly and slowly against the direction of your natural hair growth. 5. Do not push the shaver on the skin too hard as it could cause irritation, make the shaver warm and prevent a perfect shave.
6. Slowly move the shaver, exerting light pressure. As a precaution, the operation of the shaver may slow down substantially if the foils and blades are pressed too hard against the skin.
7. Always keep the shaver perpendicular to the surface to be shaved.
8. Please note that it takes 2 to 4 weeks for your skin to adapt to the shaver, so please do no change shaving instrument in this period of time.

USING THE POP-UP TRIMMER
On the back of the shaver there is an integrated pop-up trimmer that’s perfect for trimming sideburns or areas of the beard that you do not wish to shave completely.
To use the pop-up trimmer:
1. When the shaver is ready to operate, pull the trimmer release button downward to expose the trimmer.
2. Switch the shaver on by pressing down on the safety lock button and then sliding the On/Off switch upwards so that the “I” marking is visible.
3. Hold the blades of the sideburn trimmer at a right angle to the area of the skin concerned. To shorten sideburns, first comb them in the direction of growth of the hair. Here again you should hold the blades at a right angle to the head, so that they touch the skin lightly and cut the sideburns by moving the shaver down and away from the desired edge of your sideburns.
4. Switch the shaver off after every use (and where necessary unplug it from the power outlet).
5. Press the sideburn trimmer back down to its original position.

TRIMMING TIPS
TRIMMING YOUR NECKLINE
-- Hold the trimmer with the teeth of the trimmer pointing upwards, yet flat against the skin.
-- Attach the 6 position comb guide or one of the stubble comb guides and select the desired cutting length.
-- Move the trimmer upward and outward through the hair, against the direction of hair growth.
-- The trimmer will work most efficiently when cutting through hair at its own speed. Never force the trimmer.
-- Never switch the appliance off whilst in the hair.

TRIMMING YOUR SIDEBURNS
-- Attach the 6 position comb guide or one of the stubble comb guides and select the desired cutting length.
-- Always trim your sideburns from the top down.
TRIMMING & OUTLINING STUBBLE/BEARD
-- Attach the 6 position comb guide or one of the stubble comb guides and select the desired cutting length.
-- After you have combed through your beard in the direction it grows naturally, you will want to outline the desired shape, beginning under your jawline.
-- Begin defining your beard’s shape under your chin and work upward on each side of your face toward your ears. Then define the upper outline of your beard across your cheeks, past your sideburns and towards your hairline.

TRIMMING YOUR MOUSTACHE
-- For best results, start with a clean, slightly damp moustache.
-- Use a comb to comb hairs in the direction of growth.
-- Attach the 6 position comb guide or one of the stubble comb guides and select the desired cutting length. It is a good idea to start with the longest trimming length setting (you can always go back and cut your moustache closely with a shorter setting).
-- Always trim your moustache from the top down.
-- After your moustache has been trimmed to the desired length, remove the comb guide and using the blades only, define the outline of the bottom of your moustache.
