Bondi Sands - Navigating the Range
Bondi Sands is a very popular Australian tan brand and it is obvious as to why - all their products produce the end result of a gorgeous, golden tan, giving you that summer glow all year round. The collection is relatively large and it can be confusing as to what the actual difference between the various tans are. This is a guide that navigates the differences to help you find the Bondi Sands tan that is best suited to you!

COLOUR

This is relatively self-explanatory. The darker the shade, the darker the tan is going to be. It should also be noted that the longer you let the tan develop (in any shade), the darker and deeper the final colour will be. Below are the different shades and who they are best suited to, but this is not an exclusive list.

Light - Medium

  • Lighter skin complexions
  • Less experienced tanners (easier to remove your mistakes!)

Dark

  • Olive skin
  • Those with lighter skin wanting a deeper tan

Ultra Dark

  • Dark skin tones
  • More experienced tanners wanting the darkest shade of tan

TAN TYPES

The differences between tan types is not so straight forward. Although all these tanning options will leave you with perfectly tanned looking skin, they all act in slightly different ways. This a comprehensive list of the properties each tan type contains, making it easier for you to choose the tan that will meet your every need!

Original Foam

Key Features:
  • Foam consistency with a dispenser in a bottle
  • Enriched with aloe vera and a coconut scent
  • Instant colour upon application
  • Takes longer than the aero to dry on skin
  • Makes it more suited to less experienced tanners as tan can be moved around more easily if application is not satisfactory the first time
  • Develops fully over 6 hours
  • Needs to be washed off

Aero Range

Key Features:
  • Like the name implies, this is an aerated, light-weight foam formula
  • Comes with a foam dispenser in a bottle
  • Instant colour upon application
  • Enriched with jojoba, Vitamin E and a coconut scent
  • Dries in seconds as aerated formula absorbs more quickly into skin (I recommend working with this tan in patches)
  • Fully develops after 6 hours
  • Needs to be washed off
Products in the Range:
*Aero 1 Hour Express Key Features:
  • Similar properties to the other Aero products
  • Key difference: This tan fully develops after 3 hours
    • Left on for 30 mins = results in light-medium coloured tan
    • Left on for 1 hour = results in a dark coloured tan
    • Left on for 2-3 hours = results in a ultra dark coloured tan
  • Needs to be wash off

Self Tanning Lotion

Key Features:
  • Lotion formula and comes in a tube
  • Instant colour upon application
  • Enriched with aloe vera and coconut scent
  • A more hydrating tan leaving skin smooth and nourished
  • Fully develops after 6 hours
  • Needs to be washed off

The Liquid Gold Series

Key Features:
  • Liquid Gold products are enriched with argan oil and a coconut scent
  • No shade variations in this collection - products are suitable to most skin tones
  • Liquid Gold products do not need to be washed off, making them ideal for tanners on the go

*Liquid Gold Oil
  • Oil formula and comes in a bottle with a spray-like dispenser
  • No instant colour on application
  • Tan colour develops over 2-3 hours
  • Has the same properties as the other Liquid Gold products

Other Tanning Products

Self-Tanning Mist

Key Features:
  • Mist formula and comes with a spray nozzle in a bottle (similar to that of hairspray)
  • Enriched with Vitamin E to moisturise and rejuvenate skin
  • Mess free application as can just be sprayed onto skin (it is however, recommended to be used along with a mitt for the smoothest application)
  • Can be used for touch ups after using other Bondi Sands products, or on its own for a full body tan
  • Fully develops over 6 hours
  • Needs to be washed off

Everyday Tanning Milk

Key Features:
  • In a classic pump bottle and comes out in a moisturiser-like consistency
  • No colour on application - tan develops gradually over time with continued use
  • Enriched with aloe vera, Vitamin E and a cocoa butter scent
  • Can be used on its own, as a replacement for everyday moisturiser, or, used with other Bondi Sands tanning products to prolong tan life
  • Does not need to be washed off, although it is recommended that hands are washed if they are used for application

Self Tan Eraser

Key Features:
  • Gently removes self tan in just 5 minutes - no excessive exfoliation needed
  • Moisturises skin, leaving it silky smooth
  • Preps skin for a fresh layer of self tan + aids flawless application
  • Compatible with every Bondi Sands tan in any range
  • Works best at least 3 days after self-tan has been applied
  • No harsh chemicals are used in this gentle cleansing foam
  • Vegan
  • Cruelty free

Key Features:
  • Quick drying
